Presentation Customization with Bitmap Backgrounds for Tables

Using Open Office 4 "Impress" the "Presentation" program.

You can see a lot of info at this website.  Where I learned how to use the Bitmap image option to import my own images to use as Bitmaps for use as background within Tables.  Also called Formatting Areas using the Area box.

When using the Presentation (Impress) app, you can insert a "Table"

there is an option to use color, gradient, or "Bitmap" as shown in the images below.

If you select Bitmap there are a few stock choices, like colors but you can also "Import" your own image on the last tab and then edit it back on the first tab in a variety of ways to manipulate the way it is presented as a background in your table box.

So to this insert a new slide, insert a table, then click inside the table cell, and up in the top corner should show the color selector 

You can get to the option box by navigating to the top toolbar and select "Format" and then "Area" about halfway down the menu.
